Michael R. Markowitz MS.Ed, CTS, has been a school psychologist for over 15 years and is the co-founder of Crisis Oriented Planning & Educational Services LLC (COPES Consulting). Mr. Markowitz is the co-developer of the framework, “After the Crisis: Traumatic Event Crisis Intervention Plan” (TECIP) and author of the TECIP manual. He has been the coordinator of South-Western City School’s district-wide Crisis Response Team (known as “Flight Team”) since 2002. Mr. Markowitz is an adjunct faculty member at Ashland University, where he sits on an annual expert panel discussion on crisis response for the Educational Administrator Graduate Program. He is also an annual guest lecturer at Ohio State University’s School Psychology Graduate Program, where he speaks to future school psychologists on the importance of aftermath crisis response planning. Mr. Markowitz was a finalist for The Ohio School Psychologist Association’s (OSPA) “School Psychologist of the Year Award” in 2006, and was recognized as one of three “Specialists of The Year” from the National Institute for Trauma & Loss in Children in 2009.
