Starr Van Wert
Delinquent Residential
This program uses a strength-based, youth-empowerment model to serve delinquent males 12-18 and their families in Ohio. Here students develop interpersonal problem-solving and co-operative living skills in a therapeutic group-focused environment while an on-campus school, staffed by the local school district, meets the varied educational needs of each student. Family involvement in treatment is strongly encouraged.
Montcalm School for Girls
Modeled after the highly successful Montcalm School for Boys, Montcalm School for Girls is a therapeutic residential treatment facility for young women ages 12-18. Situated on a beautiful wooded site in Van Wert, Ohio, Montcalm School for Girls provides a natural, healthy environment where a girl can step back and take the time she needs to find her way. She can wander wooded trails with newfound friends or enjoy quiet solitude in grassy fields. Most importantly, she has access to all the resources she needs to help her deal with her problems and gain the skills and knowledge she needs to grow.
Montcalm MyPlace Transitional Living
MyPlace transitional living program offers teens that are not ready to live completely on their own a place to transition from their present home environment, residential care, or foster home. Girls ages 17-21 live in on-campus cottages and have access to attend school and/or their part-time job. The goal of this program is to create self-sufficient adults that can function in the outside world. Goals include maintaining a job, progressing in or graduating school, opening a bank account, and budgeting.
Montcalm Accel
The Accel program is a 60-day program for girls 12-18, designed to improve a student's academic standing within a therapeutic group structure. All students participate in a full academic day, from 8:00am to 3:00pm, Monday through Friday. Students participate in five group meetings per week, during which time they are given assignments to help them achieve their treatment goals. If needed, the Dean of Students, in collaboration with parents and the student’s previous school, may develop individual academic plans.
