Based in Albion, Michigan, Starr Commonwealth, a nonprofit human services organization with an annual operating budget of $34 million, seeks a Grant Writer.
In this capacity the successful applicant will serve as principal writer for a wide variety of funding projects, including proposals to solicit financial and in-kind support from corporations, foundations, and other organizations; campaign-related promotional materials and funding reports.
The successful candidate will plan and prepare proposals for federal, state and private funding sources and will conduct research to identify public and private funding sources and disseminate an average of $4,000,000 in grant requests annually.
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred
- A minimum of two years of professional experience in grant, business or technical writing, communications, media relations, or related field
- Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills including expertise in use of English grammar, punctuation, and syntax
- Knowledge of business software (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Demonstrated knowledge of business correspondence, communication materials and reports
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
Salary range is $52,000-$56,000, in addition to an excellent work environment and comprehensive benefits package. The successful applicant must pass drug screen, TB test, criminal history and driving record background. At the interview stage, examples of writing skills will be required.
