Wages: $14.21/hour with Bachelors degree; $15.89/hr with Masters degree
Homebased Counselor position is available with the Starr Commonwealth Mental Health Services Program at our Battle Creek site. The successful candidate will work with the Mental Health team to provide in-home, family-based therapy with the goal of increasing the functioning of the family unit, prevent out-of-home placement and need for crisis intervention.
Conduct interviews to discuss presenting concerns, developmental history and family background for purpose of evaluation and clinical diagnosis. Acquire authorization for services through insurance as appropriate and be able to explain clinical reasoning for requested services. Attend consultations with the clinical supervisor and clinical trainings with a focus on children's mental health. Supervise and train paraprofessional staff. Network and become familiar with other local agencies, programs, etc., that might be of service to families during the intervention.
Master's degree in related field or equivalent amount of experience preferred. LMSW, LLMSW, LLP, or LPC in the State of Michigan is required, along with one year post graduate experience working with children and families. Must demonstrate professional level communication skills and ability to work with diverse populations. Familiarity with Michigan Child Protection Law. Valid Michigan driver's license.
