Starr Residential Programs

Juvenile Justice Youth (JJ)
Our traditional residential program helps young men develop interpersonal problem-solving and cooperative learning skills in a therapeutic group-focused setting. With strength-based practices, we help them identify their strengths and capitalize on those abilities, instead of focusing on deficiencies. Getting to the core of a troubled teen’s value system leads to more lasting results.

Sexually Reactive Youth (SRY)
Starr Commonwealth’s SRY program addresses the needs of boys who have sexually offended and are at moderate to high risk to re-offend. Group therapy allows children to interact with other teens facing the same issues, learn to take responsibility for their actions and ultimately develop new values that guide his behavior for the long run.

Abuse/Neglect Youth (A/N)
Treatment with this group of young men dealing with emotional and interpersonal problems revolves around a positive group environment and trauma-informed care. Our positive peer culture allow children to build confidence and benefit from the collective strengths and experiences of the group.

Substance Abuse (SA)
The primary goal of treatment is to help the youth address issues related to their substance abuse by building upon and redirecting their strengths into constructive behaviors, understanding how their behavior affects others, and to successfully return or remain in their homes, schools and communities. Youth placed in our residential substance program have experienced court involvement, are adjudicated delinquents, and require a higher level of structure and security than a community-based program can adequately provide.
